| 15.08.2011 U16 WOMEN DIVISION B Lithuania and Germany booked their quarter-final places in the U16 European Championship for Women's B Division tournament in Arad by maintaining their perfect records on Monday. 19 points from Justina Kraujunaite sparked the Lithuanians to a comfortable 82-54 victory in Group F of the competition. Germany found it tougher to out-last Bulgaria 78-62, gaining a mammoth 28 points and 17 rebounds from NoƩmie Rouault as they used a 22-7 third quarter to break free. 22 points and 12 rebounds from Simina Avram were not enough as hosts Romania were out-scored in the fourth quarter against Denmark, who also secured a last-eight spot with a 61-56 win. In Group E, Laura Ferreira hit a game-high 17 points as Portugal routed Estonia 73-31 to bring them to the brink of a quarter-final place. Janice Monakana also had 17, adding 12 rebounds, as England held off a second half comeback from Latvia to win 61-55. While Ukraine - paced by 27 from Oksana Batrakova - surprised previously unbeaten Slovenia 63-37 to keep their hopes alive of a place in the latter stages. In the classification round, Israel were 97-62 winners over Luxembourg. |
