Belgium met the expectations by beating a promising Turkish team by 72-46.
In the U16 European Championship Women Group A opening match, the 2011 finalists showed they are ready to repeat a good tournament in Miskolc.
The Turkish team was heading to a good start, until their opponents reacted in the last two minutes of the first quarter.
The Belgians surpassed their initial anxiety, got more focused on defence and explored their outside scoring capability, reaching a 16 points advantage at half time (42-26).
In the second half, the Belgian side kept their pace, profiting from more space in the Turkish defence, who felt a physical break and were not able to come back in the game.
In the last quarter, Turkey scored only eight points, but during the rest of the game, the team showed enough quality to return in the run for a place in the Qualifying Round, with Hungary and Sweden, who will play later this afternoon.
