U16 WOMEN

Spain defeated Germany 67-47 to advance to the Qualifying Round of the U16 European Championship Women, while the German team will face the relegation battle.

The Germans showed they learnt from their previous defeats to the Netherlands and Italy, making Spain struggle with their frontcourt performance.

The Spanish were outrebounded by a smaller German team, 41-46.

After reaching a 14 points lead at half time, Spain saw a German reaction with a 6-0 run, keeping the game alive until the end of the third quarter.

Germany were lacking stamina in the last quarter, as Spain cruised to their second victory of the tournament.

Itsaso Conde and Elena Capella were the top scorers for Spain with 13 and nine points respectively, while Emma Stach's 15 points and Patricia Brossmann's nine points and 11 rebounds gave an excellent impression of the German's growth in the competition.
